A 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane and a separate power plane is recommended. Keep the input and output traces short and away from each other to minimize noise coupling.
To ensure stability, use a minimum output capacitance of 10uF, and ensure the output capacitor has a low ESR (Equivalent Series Resistance). Also, avoid using ceramic capacitors with high ESL (Equivalent Series Inductance).
Although the datasheet specifies a maximum input voltage of 18V, it's recommended to limit the input voltage to 15V to ensure reliable operation and prevent damage to the device.
Power dissipation (PD) can be calculated using the formula: PD = (VIN x IIN) - (VOUT x IOUT). Ensure the calculated PD is within the specified maximum power dissipation of 1.5W to prevent overheating.
A 1uF to 10uF input capacitor is recommended to filter out input noise and ensure stable operation. The capacitor should have a voltage rating of at least 25V and a low ESR.
