AEDR-8500-102 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • Broadcom recommends a 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane, and thermal vias under the device to dissipate heat. A thermal pad on the bottom of the device should be connected to a thermal plane on the PCB.
  • Use a differential pair for clock signals, keep high-speed signals away from the edge of the PCB, and use a common mode filter or ferrite bead to reduce EMI. Also, ensure that the PCB stack-up is optimized for signal integrity.
  • Power up the device in the following sequence: VCC, then AVCC, and finally DVCC. Ensure that the power supplies are stable and within the recommended voltage range before applying clock signals.
  • Check the JTAG clock frequency, ensure that the TCK pin is not left floating, and verify that the JTAG signals are not corrupted by other signals on the PCB. Also, use a JTAG debugger or a logic analyzer to debug the issue.
  • The device is rated for operation from -40°C to 85°C. However, the device's performance and reliability may degrade if operated at the extreme ends of this range.
