ALS31313KLEATR-2000 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • A 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane and a separate power plane is recommended. Keep the analog and digital grounds separate and connect them at the power entry point. Use a ferrite bead or a 10-ohm resistor in series with the power supply to reduce noise.
  • Use a low-impedance current sense resistor (e.g., 1-10 mΩ) and place it as close to the IC as possible. Ensure the sense resistor is in the same thermal zone as the IC to minimize temperature-related errors. Use a Kelvin connection to the sense resistor to reduce noise.
  • A 10-100 nF ceramic capacitor is recommended for the VCC pin to filter out high-frequency noise. Place the capacitor as close to the VCC pin as possible.
  • The output signal is a differential signal. Use a differential amplifier or an instrumentation amplifier to condition the signal. Ensure the amplifier has a high common-mode rejection ratio (CMRR) to reject noise.
  • The ALS31313 is rated for operation from -40°C to 150°C. However, the device's accuracy and performance may degrade at extreme temperatures. Ensure proper thermal management and heat sinking to maintain optimal performance.
