Abracon recommends a symmetrical PCB layout with a ground plane underneath the oscillator to minimize noise and radiation. A 4-layer PCB with a dedicated ground plane is ideal. Keep the oscillator away from high-frequency signals and ensure a clear return path for the oscillator's output.
To ensure reliable startup, Abracon recommends a power-up ramp time of at least 1 ms/V. A slower power-up ramp can help prevent the oscillator from starting up in an unstable state. Additionally, ensure the power supply is clean and well-regulated, and that the oscillator is not subjected to excessive noise or EMI.
While the datasheet specifies an operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C, Abracon recommends derating the oscillator's frequency tolerance and stability over temperature. For optimal performance, operate the oscillator within a temperature range of -20°C to +70°C.
The AWCR-3.58MD is designed to withstand moderate vibration levels. However, Abracon recommends taking additional precautions for high-vibration environments, such as using a vibration-dampening material or a more robust mounting method. Consult Abracon's application notes for more information.
Abracon recommends implementing ESD protection measures, such as using ESD-sensitive handling procedures, ESD-protective packaging, and incorporating ESD-protection devices (e.g., TVS diodes) in the design. Ensure the oscillator is not subjected to static electricity during handling or assembly.
