A thermal pad on the bottom of the package should be connected to a large copper area on the PCB to dissipate heat. A minimum of 2oz copper thickness is recommended. Additionally, vias should be placed under the thermal pad to connect to a solid copper plane on the inner layers.
The BAR43C is rated for operation up to 150°C. To ensure reliable operation, ensure proper heat sinking, avoid overheating, and follow the recommended derating curves for voltage and current. Also, consider using a thermistor or thermocouple to monitor the temperature.
The BAR43C has internal ESD protection, but it's still recommended to follow standard ESD handling precautions during assembly and testing. Use an ESD wrist strap or mat, and ensure that the PCB is properly grounded.
The BAR43C is a commercial-grade device, but onsemi offers a high-reliability version, the BAR43CQ, which is qualified to aerospace standards. Contact onsemi for more information on the high-reliability version.
Start by checking the power supply voltage, current, and temperature. Verify that the device is properly soldered and that there are no signs of physical damage. Use a scope or logic analyzer to check the input and output signals. Consult the datasheet and application notes for troubleshooting guides.
