BD436 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • A 2-layer or 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane and a thermal relief pattern around the device is recommended. The thermal pad should be connected to a large copper area to dissipate heat efficiently.
  • Choose an input capacitor with a low ESR (Equivalent Series Resistance) and a high ripple current rating. A 10uF to 22uF ceramic capacitor with an X7R or X5R dielectric is a good starting point.
  • The BD436 can deliver up to 3A of output current, but this may vary depending on the input voltage, output voltage, and thermal conditions. Always check the thermal derating curves in the datasheet to ensure safe operation.
  • The BD436 has a built-in overcurrent protection feature. Connect a resistor (Rocp) between the OCP pin and GND to set the overcurrent threshold. The device will limit the output current to the set threshold during an overcurrent event.
  • The BD436 is rated for operation up to 125°C, but the device's performance and reliability may degrade at high temperatures. Ensure proper thermal design and consider derating the output current to ensure safe operation.
