BMA253 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • The recommended power-on sequence is to first apply VDD (1.71V to 3.6V) and then apply VLOGIC (1.71V to 3.6V). This ensures proper initialization of the device.
  • To configure the BMA253 for low-power mode, set the LP_MODE bit in the POWER_CTRL register (0x0F) to '1'. This reduces the current consumption to approximately 10 μA.
  • The INT1 and INT2 pins are interrupt pins that can be configured to trigger on specific events, such as exceeding a certain acceleration threshold or detecting a tap/double tap. These pins can be used to wake up a microcontroller from sleep mode or to trigger an interrupt.
  • The BMA253 does not require calibration. It is a self-testable and self-calibrating accelerometer. However, it is recommended to perform a self-test after power-on to ensure the device is functioning correctly.
  • The BMA253 can measure accelerations up to ±16g in the x, y, and z axes.
