A thermal pad is recommended under the package to improve thermal performance. A minimum of 2oz copper thickness and a thermal relief pattern are recommended for optimal heat dissipation.
Ensure that the input voltage is within the recommended range, and that the output capacitor is of sufficient value and type (e.g. X5R or X7R ceramic) to maintain stability. Also, ensure that the feedback network is properly compensated.
The maximum allowable ripple current on the input capacitor is dependent on the capacitor type and value. As a general guideline, the ripple current should be limited to 10-20% of the capacitor's rated ripple current.
While it is possible to use a lower value output capacitor, it may affect the regulator's stability and transient response. A minimum output capacitance of 10uF is recommended to ensure stability.
Use a voltage supervisor or a voltage monitor IC to detect overvoltage and undervoltage conditions, and implement a shutdown or reset mechanism to protect the device.
