XP Power recommends a PCB layout with a large copper area connected to the tab of the device to dissipate heat effectively. A minimum of 1 square inch of copper area is recommended, with multiple vias to connect to an internal copper plane or a heat sink.
To ensure reliable start-up, XP Power recommends a soft-start circuit to limit the inrush current and a sufficient input capacitance to store energy during the start-up phase. A minimum of 10uF input capacitance is recommended.
The maximum allowed capacitance on the output of the ISE2405A-TR is 220uF. Exceeding this value may cause instability or oscillation in the converter.
While the ISE2405A-TR is rated for operation up to 85°C, XP Power recommends derating the output power by 2.5% per degree above 70°C to ensure reliable operation. Additionally, the device should be mounted on a heat sink to dissipate heat effectively.
XP Power recommends checking the input voltage, output load, and PCB layout for any issues. Ensure that the input voltage is within the specified range, the output load is within the specified current limit, and the PCB layout is correct. Also, check for any signs of overheating or physical damage to the device.
