ISL29030AIROZ-T7 - Renesas Electronics

Description: The ISL29030A is an integrated ambient and infrared light-to-digital converter with a built-in IR LED driver and I2C interface (SMBus compatible). This device uses two independent ADCs for concurrently measuring ambient light and proximity in parallel. The flexible interrupt scheme is designed for minimal microcontroller utilization. For ambient light sensor (ALS) data conversions, an ADC converts photodiode current (with a light sensitivity range of 2000 lux) in 100ms per sample. The ADC rejects 50Hz/60Hz

ISL29030AIROZ-T7 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • Renesas recommends a PCB layout with a solid ground plane underneath the sensor, and keeping the sensor away from other components that may interfere with the light sensing. A minimum of 1mm clearance around the sensor is recommended.
  • The ISL29030AIROZ-T7 does not require calibration. It has an internal calibration that is done during manufacturing. However, if you need to adjust the sensitivity, you can use the adjustable gain feature by writing to the gain control register.
  • The ISL29030AIROZ-T7 can operate from -40°C to 85°C, but the accuracy of the lux readings may degrade at extreme temperatures. For optimal performance, it's recommended to operate the sensor between 0°C to 70°C.
  • Yes, the ISL29030AIROZ-T7 is designed to operate in a wide range of humidity levels, from 20% to 80% RH. However, it's recommended to follow proper PCB design and assembly guidelines to prevent moisture ingress.
  • The ISL29030AIROZ-T7 has an internal noise filter, but you can also implement additional filtering in your firmware or software to reduce noise and interference. You can also use the sensor's interrupt feature to trigger readings only when the light level changes significantly.
