LIS2DH Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • The recommended power-on sequence is to power up the VDDIO pin first, followed by the VDD pin. This ensures that the internal voltage regulator is properly enabled.
  • The self-test feature can be enabled by setting the ST bit in the CTRL_REG4 register. The device will then perform a self-test and report the results in the STATUS_REG register. Note that the self-test feature should only be used during device characterization and not in normal operation.
  • The interrupt pins can be configured to generate interrupts based on various events, such as data ready, overrun, or threshold exceedance. This allows the microcontroller to be notified when new data is available or when an event occurs, reducing the need for continuous polling.
  • To configure the LIS2DH for low-power operation, set the LPEN bit in the CTRL_REG1 register. This will reduce the power consumption of the device. Additionally, the ODR (output data rate) can be reduced to minimize power consumption. However, this may affect the accuracy of the measurements.
  • The main difference between the two models is the package type. The LIS2DH12 comes in a 12-pin LGA package, while the LIS2DH12TR comes in a 12-pin LGA tape and reel package. The electrical characteristics and performance of the two models are identical.
