LIS3DSHTR Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • The recommended power-on sequence is to first apply VDDIO, then VDD, and finally enable the device by setting the CS pin low. This ensures proper initialization and prevents unwanted behavior.
  • The self-test feature can be enabled by setting the ST bit in the CTRL_REG4 register. During self-test, the sensor outputs a predefined acceleration pattern. To use this feature, ensure that the device is not in sleep mode and that the interrupt pins are not used.
  • The internal low-pass filter helps to reduce noise and aliasing effects. It can be enabled or disabled by setting the LPF bit in the CTRL_REG2 register. The filter cutoff frequency depends on the ODR (Output Data Rate) setting.
  • To minimize power consumption, set the ODR to the lowest possible value, disable the internal low-pass filter, and use the lowest possible voltage supply. Additionally, consider using the device's low-power modes, such as sleep or standby mode, when not actively measuring acceleration.
  • To minimize noise and ensure accurate measurements, place the LIS3DSHTR away from high-frequency components and keep the PCB traces as short as possible. Use a solid ground plane and decouple the power supply lines with capacitors.
