MACOM recommends a 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane, and thermal vias under the package to dissipate heat. A thermal pad on the bottom of the package should be connected to a heat sink or a thermal management system.
The recommended biasing scheme is to use a voltage-controlled current source to set the drain current (ID) to 100-150 mA. The gate voltage (VG) should be set to 0.5-1.5 V to achieve optimal linearity and gain.
The MABA-011082 can handle input powers up to +20 dBm, but it's recommended to operate at +15 dBm or lower to ensure optimal linearity and to prevent damage to the device.
To minimize noise and oscillations, ensure proper grounding, use a low-inductance path for the drain voltage, and add decoupling capacitors at the drain and gate pins. Additionally, use a ferrite bead or a resistor in series with the gate to prevent oscillations.
The recommended operating temperature range for the MABA-011082 is -40°C to +85°C. Operating outside this range may affect the amplifier's performance and reliability.
