A thermal pad on the bottom of the package should be connected to a large copper area on the PCB to dissipate heat. A minimum of 2oz copper thickness is recommended. Additionally, vias should be placed under the package to connect the thermal pad to the copper area.
Ensure the device is operated within the recommended junction temperature (Tj) range of -40°C to 150°C. Implement a thermal management system, such as a heat sink or fan, to maintain a safe operating temperature. Monitor the device's thermal resistance (RθJA) and adjust the system design accordingly.
The MJD42CRLG has an internal ESD protection diode, but it's recommended to add external ESD protection, such as a TVS diode, to ensure device reliability. Follow the onsemi application note for ESD protection guidelines.
Choose an input capacitor with a voltage rating that exceeds the maximum input voltage. A low-ESR capacitor (e.g., X7R or X5R dielectric) with a value between 1-10μF is recommended. Ensure the capacitor is placed close to the device's input pins to minimize parasitic inductance.
Keep the PCB layout compact to reduce loop areas and minimize radiation. Use a solid ground plane and place components to minimize signal paths. Avoid routing high-frequency signals near the device's input/output pins. Implement EMI shielding or filtering if necessary.
