Etal Group recommends a 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane, and a separate power plane for the P3181. Keep the input and output tracks as short as possible, and use a common mode choke to reduce EMI.
The P3181 has a thermal pad on the bottom of the package. Ensure good thermal contact with a heat sink or a thermal interface material. Keep the ambient temperature below 85°C and provide adequate airflow to prevent overheating.
The maximum allowed voltage on the input pins is 5.5V. Exceeding this voltage may damage the device. Use voltage limiting resistors or a voltage regulator to ensure input voltage stays within the recommended range.
Use an oscilloscope to check the input and output waveforms. Verify the power supply voltage, and check for proper grounding and decoupling. Consult the application notes and datasheet for troubleshooting guidelines.
