A 1-10uF ceramic capacitor is recommended for input decoupling, placed as close to the VIN pin as possible.
Use a 10kΩ to 100kΩ resistor between the ADJ pin and the output pin to set the output voltage, and a 10nF to 100nF capacitor between the ADJ pin and GND for noise filtering.
The maximum power dissipation is dependent on the ambient temperature and the thermal resistance of the package. A safe estimate is to limit the power dissipation to 1.5W or less.
The RB558WMFHTL is rated for operation up to 125°C, but the output current may need to be derated for high-temperature operation. Consult the datasheet for derating curves.
Use a TVS (Transient Voltage Suppressor) diode or a zener diode with a suitable voltage rating to clamp input voltage transients.
