RECOM recommends a PCB layout with a large copper area connected to the module's thermal pad to ensure good heat dissipation. A minimum of 2 oz copper thickness is recommended, and the copper area should be connected to a heat sink or a metal plate for further heat dissipation.
Use a suitable input voltage regulator or a voltage stabilizer to ensure the input voltage stays within the recommended range of 36-75VDC. Additionally, consider adding input voltage protection devices such as TVS diodes or varistors to protect the module from voltage spikes and surges.
The maximum allowed capacitance on the output is 220uF. Exceeding this value may cause instability or oscillation in the output voltage. It's recommended to use a capacitor with a low ESR (Equivalent Series Resistance) to minimize the risk of oscillation.
The RS-4815SZ is rated for operation up to 80°C ambient temperature. However, derating the output power is required for temperatures above 60°C. Consult the datasheet for derating curves and ensure proper heat dissipation to prevent overheating.
Implement overcurrent protection using an external current sense resistor and a comparator or a dedicated overcurrent protection IC. The sense resistor should be connected in series with the output of the module, and the comparator or protection IC should be configured to trigger an interrupt or shut down the module when the current exceeds the maximum allowed value.
