  • Richtek provides a recommended PCB layout in their application note AND9134, which includes guidelines for thermal vias, copper pours, and component placement to minimize thermal resistance and ensure reliable operation.
  • The output capacitor selection depends on the output voltage, output current, and desired ripple voltage. Richtek recommends using a low-ESR capacitor with a value between 10uF to 22uF, and a voltage rating of at least 1.5 times the output voltage. A detailed calculation method is provided in the datasheet.
  • Although the recommended input voltage range is 4.5V to 18V, the RT9065GE can withstand up to 20V for a short duration (less than 100ms) without damage. However, continuous operation above 18V is not recommended.
  • The RT9065GE has a built-in overcurrent protection feature that can be enabled by connecting a resistor between the OCP pin and GND. The resistor value determines the overcurrent threshold. Richtek provides a calculation method and example values in the datasheet.
  • The EN (Enable) pin is used to turn the regulator on or off. When the EN pin is pulled high (above 1.4V), the regulator is enabled. When the EN pin is pulled low (below 0.4V), the regulator is disabled and enters a low-power shutdown mode.
