RECOM recommends a PCB layout with a large copper area connected to the module's thermal pad to ensure good heat dissipation. A minimum of 2oz copper thickness is recommended. Additionally, the PCB should have a sufficient number of vias to connect the top and bottom layers to further improve thermal performance.
To ensure reliable start-up of the RV-2405S/P, RECOM recommends a soft-start circuit or a ramp-up of the input voltage to prevent high inrush currents. Additionally, the input voltage should be stabilized and within the specified range to prevent oscillations or instability.
The maximum allowed capacitance on the output of the RV-2405S/P is 10uF. Exceeding this value may cause instability or oscillations. RECOM recommends using a capacitor with a low ESR (Equivalent Series Resistance) to minimize the risk of oscillations.
The RV-2405S/P is rated for operation up to 85°C ambient temperature. However, RECOM recommends derating the output power at higher temperatures to ensure reliable operation. A derating curve is available in the datasheet or upon request from RECOM.
RECOM recommends using an external overvoltage protection (OVP) circuit or undervoltage lockout (UVLO) circuit to protect the RV-2405S/P from voltage transients or faults. The OVP/UVLO circuit should be designed to disconnect the input voltage in case of an overvoltage or undervoltage condition.
