TPC8124 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • A 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane and a separate power plane is recommended. Keep the input and output traces short and away from each other to minimize EMI.
  • Mount the device on a heat sink with a thermal resistance of 1°C/W or less. Ensure good airflow around the device and avoid blocking the airflow with other components.
  • The maximum allowed voltage on the VIN pin is 28V, but it's recommended to keep it below 24V for reliable operation.
  • The TPC8124 is rated for operation up to 125°C, but the maximum junction temperature should not exceed 150°C. Ensure proper cooling and derate the device accordingly.
  • Use an external current sense resistor and a fuse or a current limiting circuit to protect the device from overcurrent. The internal overcurrent protection is not intended to be the primary protection mechanism.
