TS1104 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • Tamura recommends a 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane and a separate power plane for the TS1104. The input and output tracks should be kept short and away from noise sources. A recommended layout is available in the Tamura application note AN-1104-001.
  • The TS1104 has a thermal pad on the bottom of the package. Ensure good thermal contact with the PCB by applying a thermal interface material (TIM) and using a copper plane on the PCB to dissipate heat. The recommended thermal resistance is ≤1°C/W.
  • The maximum allowed voltage on the enable pin (EN) is 6V. Exceeding this voltage may damage the device. It is recommended to use a voltage divider or a level shifter if the control signal is higher than 6V.
  • The TS1104 is rated for operation up to 125°C. However, the device's performance and reliability may degrade at high temperatures. It is recommended to derate the output current and voltage according to the temperature derating curve provided in the datasheet.
  • Tamura provides a troubleshooting guide in the application note AN-1104-002. Common issues include incorrect PCB layout, inadequate thermal management, and incorrect input/output connections. Consult the application note for detailed troubleshooting steps.
