Tamura recommends a 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane and a separate power plane for the TS1104. The input and output tracks should be kept short and away from noise sources. A recommended layout is available in the Tamura application note AN-1104-001.
The TS1104 has a thermal pad on the bottom of the package. Ensure good thermal contact with the PCB by applying a thermal interface material (TIM) and using a copper plane on the PCB to dissipate heat. The recommended thermal resistance is ≤1°C/W.
The maximum allowed voltage on the enable pin (EN) is 6V. Exceeding this voltage may damage the device. It is recommended to use a voltage divider or a level shifter if the control signal is higher than 6V.
The TS1104 is rated for operation up to 125°C. However, the device's performance and reliability may degrade at high temperatures. It is recommended to derate the output current and voltage according to the temperature derating curve provided in the datasheet.
Tamura provides a troubleshooting guide in the application note AN-1104-002. Common issues include incorrect PCB layout, inadequate thermal management, and incorrect input/output connections. Consult the application note for detailed troubleshooting steps.
