XP Power recommends a PCB layout with a large copper area underneath the module to dissipate heat effectively. A minimum of 2oz copper thickness is recommended, and the copper area should be connected to a solid ground plane to ensure good heat sinking.
To ensure reliable start-up, XP Power recommends a soft-start circuit or a ramp-up voltage supply to prevent high inrush currents. Additionally, the input voltage should be stabilized and within the recommended range to prevent oscillations or instability.
The maximum allowable capacitance on the output of the VR10S09 is 10,000uF. Exceeding this value may cause instability or oscillations in the output voltage. It's recommended to use a capacitance value that is as low as possible while still meeting the requirements of the load.
XP Power recommends using a TVS (Transient Voltage Suppressor) diode or a surge protector device at the input of the VR10S09 to protect it from voltage surges or spikes. The TVS diode should be rated for the maximum expected surge voltage and should be placed as close as possible to the input of the module.
The recommended input fuse rating for the VR10S09 is 5A slow-blow or 3A fast-blow. The fuse rating should be selected based on the maximum expected input current and the fault current of the application.
