• What is the recommended PCB layout and thermal management for optimal performance?
  CUI recommends a PCB layout with a solid ground plane and thermal vias to dissipate heat. A minimum of 2oz copper thickness is recommended. Additionally, a thermal interface material (TIM) with a thermal conductivity of 1-2 W/m-K should be used between the module and the heat sink.
• How do I ensure reliable start-up and shutdown of the power supply?
  To ensure reliable start-up and shutdown, CUI recommends a soft-start circuit to limit inrush current. A slow-rising input voltage (typically 10-20 ms) and a minimum input voltage of 1.5 times the nominal input voltage are also recommended.
• What are the derating curves for temperature and altitude?
  CUI provides derating curves for temperature and altitude in the product manual or application notes. Typically, the power supply's output power is derated by 2-3% per 1000 ft above sea level and 1-2% per 10°C above 25°C ambient temperature.
• How do I implement overvoltage protection (OVP) and undervoltage protection (UVP)?
  CUI recommends using external OVP and UVP circuits to protect the power supply from input voltage faults. A zener diode or a dedicated OVP/UVP IC can be used to detect and respond to voltage faults.
• What is the recommended input fuse rating and type?
  CUI recommends a fuse rating of 5-10 A, slow-blow type, to protect the power supply from input overcurrent faults. The fuse should be located as close to the input terminals as possible.
