Description: The 9FGL0441/51 devices are 4-output  3.3V PCIe Gen1–5 clock generators. Each output has a dedicated OE# pin supporting PCIe CLKREQ# functionality. Two different spread spectrum levels, in addition to spread off, are supported. The 9FGL0441/51 supports PCIe Gen1–5 Common Clocked architectures (CC), PCIe Separate Reference no-Spread (SRNS) and Separate Reference Independent Spread (SRIS) clocking architectures.

  • A 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane and a separate power plane is recommended. The device should be placed near the center of the board, and decoupling capacitors should be placed close to the device.
  • Ensure that the device is operated within the recommended temperature range (-40°C to 125°C). Use a heat sink or thermal interface material to dissipate heat, and consider using a thermal monitoring system to prevent overheating.
  • Power-up sequence: VCC, then VDD, then clock signal. Power-down sequence: clock signal, then VDD, then VCC. Ensure that the power supply voltage is stable before applying the clock signal.
  • Use a shielded enclosure, keep signal lines short, and use EMI filters or common-mode chokes to reduce emissions. Ensure that the device is placed at least 1 cm away from other components to reduce electromagnetic coupling.
  • The internal oscillator can be enabled by setting the OSCEN bit in the OSCCTL register. The oscillator frequency can be adjusted by setting the FREQ bits in the OSCCTL register. Consult the datasheet for recommended settings for specific frequencies.
