F2972NEGK Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • Renesas provides a recommended PCB layout guide in their application note (R01AN2732EU0100) that includes thermal design considerations, such as placing thermal vias under the package and using a thermal pad on the bottom side of the PCB.
  • Renesas provides a Secure Boot and Firmware Encryption Guide (R01AN2733EU0100) that outlines the steps to implement secure boot and firmware encryption using the MCU's built-in security features, such as the Trusted Secure IP (TSIP) and the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES).
  • The F2972NEGK's ADC has a 12-bit resolution and a maximum sampling rate of 1.2 Msps. According to the datasheet, the ADC has an accuracy of ±1 LSB and a noise tolerance of 50 mV. However, for more accurate measurements, it's recommended to use an external ADC or to implement noise reduction techniques, such as oversampling and averaging.
  • No, the F2972NEGK's USB interface can only operate in either device mode or host mode, but not both simultaneously. However, you can implement a USB OTG (On-The-Go) controller using an external USB OTG chip or a dedicated USB OTG IC.
  • Renesas provides a Power Management Guide (R01AN2734EU0100) that outlines various techniques to optimize power consumption, such as using the MCU's low-power modes (e.g., sleep, standby, and shutdown), reducing clock frequencies, and using power gating for peripherals.
