HMC656 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • A 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane and a separate power plane is recommended. Keep the signal traces short and away from the power plane. Use a common mode choke or a ferrite bead to filter the power supply lines.
  • Use the HMC656's internal voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) and adjust the tuning voltage to optimize the frequency response. You can also use external components to fine-tune the frequency response.
  • The maximum input power that the HMC656 can handle is +10 dBm. Exceeding this limit may cause damage to the device.
  • Ensure that the VCC and VEE pins are properly biased to the recommended voltage levels (typically +5V and -5V, respectively). Also, ensure that the bias current is set to the recommended value (typically 10mA).
  • The recommended operating temperature range for the HMC656 is -40°C to +85°C. Operating the device outside this range may affect its performance and reliability.
