CUI Devices recommends a 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane and a separate power plane for the MD-80CV. The input and output traces should be kept short and away from noise sources. A recommended layout is available in the application note AN-103.
To ensure reliable start-up, CUI Devices recommends a soft-start circuit to limit the inrush current. A capacitor with a value of 10uF to 22uF can be connected between the VIN pin and GND to slow down the start-up time.
The maximum output capacitance is limited to 47uF to prevent oscillation. Exceeding this value may cause instability or affect the converter's performance.
The MD-80CV is rated for operation up to 85°C ambient temperature. However, derating is required above 70°C. Consult the datasheet for derating curves and thermal management guidelines.
