  • RECOM recommends a PCB layout with a large copper area for heat dissipation, and a minimum of 2oz copper thickness. The converter should be placed on a solid copper plane with multiple vias to the bottom layer for heat sinking.
  • To ensure reliable start-up and operation with a high-capacitance output filter, RECOM recommends adding a soft-start circuit or a ramp-up circuit to limit the inrush current. Additionally, the output capacitor should be selected with a low ESR to minimize voltage overshoot.
  • The maximum allowed voltage deviation on the input pins is ±10% of the nominal input voltage. Exceeding this deviation may affect the converter's performance, reliability, or even cause damage.
  • While the R0.5Z-2405 is rated for operation up to 85°C, RECOM recommends derating the output power by 2.5% per degree above 70°C to ensure reliable operation. Additionally, the converter should be mounted on a heat sink with a thermal resistance of ≤10°C/W.
