VN820 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • The VN820 can operate from -40°C to 150°C, but the maximum junction temperature (TJ) should not exceed 150°C.
  • The VN820 requires a power-up sequence of VCC > VBAT > VREG. Ensure that VCC is powered up first, followed by VBAT, and then VREG. Also, make sure to follow the recommended power-up timing and voltage levels.
  • STMicroelectronics recommends a 4-layer PCB with a dedicated ground plane, and to keep the analog and digital signals separate. Also, use short and wide traces for power and ground connections, and avoid vias under the device.
  • The VN820 has a low-power mode that can be enabled by setting the EN pin low. Additionally, you can also reduce the power consumption by adjusting the clock frequency, disabling unused peripherals, and using the built-in power-saving features.
  • The VN820 can handle a maximum current of 1.5A per channel, but the total current should not exceed 3A. Also, ensure that the PCB is designed to handle the maximum current and that the device is properly heat-sinked.
