A3979SLP Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Allegro recommends a 2-layer PCB with a solid ground plane on the bottom layer and a thermal relief pattern on the top layer to minimize thermal resistance. A minimum of 2 oz copper thickness is recommended.
To ensure accurate current sensing, use a low-impedance current sense resistor (CSR) and place it as close as possible to the device. Also, ensure the CSR is properly decoupled from the power supply and the device's output stage.
The maximum allowed voltage on the VREG pin is 5.5V. Exceeding this voltage may damage the device. It's recommended to use a voltage regulator or a Zener diode to limit the voltage to 5V or less.
The A3979SLP has a built-in POR and UVLO circuitry. To handle these features, ensure a proper power-up sequence, and use a capacitor on the VREG pin to filter out noise and ensure a clean power-on reset.
