Allegro recommends a 2-layer PCB with a solid ground plane on the bottom layer and a thermal relief pattern on the top layer to minimize thermal resistance. A minimum of 2 oz copper thickness is recommended.
To ensure accurate current sensing, use a low-impedance current sense resistor (CSR) and place it as close as possible to the IC. Also, ensure the CSR is properly decoupled from the power supply and the IC's output pins.
Although the datasheet specifies a maximum VCC of 5.5V, Allegro recommends limiting the voltage to 5V to ensure reliable operation and minimize the risk of damage.
The OCP feature is designed to protect the IC from excessive current. When OCP is triggered, the IC will limit the output current. To handle OCP, ensure your system can detect and respond to the OCP condition, and implement a suitable fault-handling mechanism.
Although the datasheet specifies an operating temperature range of -40°C to 150°C, Allegro recommends operating the IC within a range of -20°C to 125°C for optimal performance and reliability.
