  • A 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane and a separate power plane is recommended. Keep the analog and digital sections separate, and use a common ground point for the analog and digital grounds.
  • Ensure the input voltage is within the recommended range (2.7V to 3.6V), and decouple the input voltage with a 10uF capacitor. Also, ensure the output capacitor is at least 1uF and is placed close to the VREG pin.
  • The ADF7020 can achieve a maximum data rate of 1 Mbps in the 868 MHz and 915 MHz frequency bands, and up to 500 kbps in the 433 MHz frequency band.
  • Use the lowest possible frequency band, disable the transmitter and receiver when not in use, and use the power-down mode (PD pin) to reduce power consumption. Also, adjust the transmitter power output to the minimum required for your application.
  • A quarter-wave monopole antenna or a dipole antenna with a 50-ohm impedance is recommended. The antenna should be designed to operate at the desired frequency band and should be matched to the ADF7020's output impedance.
