A 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane and a separate power plane is recommended. Keep the input and output capacitors close to the IC, and use short and wide traces for the power lines.
To ensure stability, use a minimum output capacitance of 10uF, and ensure that the output capacitor has a low ESR (Equivalent Series Resistance). Also, avoid using ceramic capacitors with high dielectric absorption.
Although the datasheet specifies a maximum input voltage of 18V, it's recommended to limit the input voltage to 15V to ensure reliable operation and prevent damage to the IC.
While APF10212 is rated for operation up to 85°C, it's recommended to derate the output current and input voltage at high temperatures to prevent overheating and ensure reliable operation.
Check the PCB layout, ensure proper decoupling, and verify that the input and output capacitors meet the recommended specifications. Also, check for any signs of overheating or physical damage to the IC.
