  • TI recommends a 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane, and placing the IC close to the battery. Keep the input and output capacitors close to the IC, and use short, wide traces for the power paths.
  • To minimize Iq, ensure the EN pin is driven high, use a low-value resistor (e.g., 1 kΩ) for RSET, and keep the input voltage close to the minimum recommended value (2.7 V).
  • Although the datasheet specifies a maximum input voltage of 6.5 V, TI recommends limiting the input voltage to 5.5 V to ensure reliable operation and prevent damage to the IC.
  • Ensure good thermal conductivity by using a thermal pad or a heat sink, and keep the IC away from heat sources. The maximum junction temperature is 150°C, and the thermal resistance (θJA) is 45°C/W.
  • The EN (enable) pin is an active-high input that enables or disables the regulator. Connect EN to VIN through a resistor (e.g., 10 kΩ) to enable the regulator, or tie it to GND to disable it.
