DRV8300NRGER Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • The maximum voltage that can be applied to the VM pin is 50V, but it's recommended to keep it below 40V for reliable operation.
  • The DRV8300 can be configured for 3-phase or 6-step operation by setting the MODE pin high or low, respectively. For 3-phase operation, tie the MODE pin to VCC, and for 6-step operation, tie it to GND.
  • The RSENSE pin is used to sense the current flowing through the motor windings. Connect a sense resistor (RSENSE) between the RSENSE pin and GND, and the DRV8300 will use the voltage across this resistor to regulate the motor current.
  • The DRV8300 has a built-in overcurrent protection (OCP) feature. Set the OCP threshold by connecting a resistor (ROC) between the ROC pin and GND. When the current exceeds the set threshold, the DRV8300 will limit the current to prevent damage.
  • The DEADTIME pin sets the dead time between the high-side and low-side FETs. Connect a capacitor (CDEAD) between the DEADTIME pin and GND to set the dead time. A longer dead time reduces shoot-through currents, but increases switching losses.
