DST8100S Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • A thermal pad on the bottom of the device should be connected to a large copper area on the PCB to dissipate heat efficiently. A minimum of 2 oz copper thickness is recommended.
  • Use a soldering iron with a temperature range of 250°C to 260°C. Apply a small amount of solder paste to the PCB pads, and use a reflow oven or a hot air gun to solder the device.
  • The device can withstand voltage transients up to 1.5 times the maximum rated voltage (Vr) for a duration of 100 ms. However, it's recommended to use a TVS diode or a varistor to protect the device from voltage spikes.
  • The device is rated for operation up to 150°C. However, the maximum operating temperature may be derated based on the specific application and thermal management. Consult the datasheet and application notes for more information.
  • Choose a fuse rating that is 1.5 to 2 times the maximum expected current in your application. Consider factors like inrush current, steady-state current, and fault current when selecting the fuse rating.
