EMD3FHAT2R Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • A thermal pad on the bottom of the package should be connected to a large copper area on the PCB to dissipate heat efficiently. A minimum of 2oz copper thickness is recommended.
  • To ensure stability, a minimum output capacitance of 10uF with an ESR of 100mΩ or less is recommended. Additionally, a 1uF ceramic capacitor should be placed close to the VIN pin to filter out noise.
  • Although the datasheet specifies a maximum input voltage of 5.5V, it's recommended to limit the input voltage to 5V to ensure reliable operation and prevent damage to the device.
  • A current limiting resistor or a Poly-Fuse can be used in series with the input voltage to prevent overcurrent conditions. Additionally, a voltage supervisor or a reset IC can be used to monitor the output voltage and reset the system in case of a fault.
  • A 1uF to 10uF ceramic capacitor is recommended to filter out noise and ripple on the input voltage. The capacitor should be placed close to the VIN pin to be effective.
