IH0512S Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • XP Power recommends a PCB layout with a large copper area for heat dissipation, and a minimum of 2oz copper thickness. A thermal via array under the module is also recommended to improve heat transfer.
  • To ensure reliable start-up, XP Power recommends a soft-start circuit to limit the inrush current, and a sufficient input capacitance to stabilize the input voltage. A minimum input voltage of 10V is also recommended.
  • The maximum allowable capacitance on the output of the IH0512S is 220uF. Exceeding this value may cause instability or oscillation in the output voltage.
  • The IH0512S is rated for operation up to 80°C ambient temperature. However, derating of the output power is required above 60°C to ensure reliable operation. Consult the datasheet for derating curves.
