A 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane and thermal vias is recommended. The device should be placed near a thermal pad or heat sink to dissipate heat efficiently.
Use a soft-start circuit to limit the inrush current during start-up, and ensure the input voltage rises slowly (e.g., 10ms to 100ms) to prevent voltage spikes. For shutdown, use a soft-shutdown circuit to gradually reduce the output voltage.
The maximum output capacitance for stable operation is 100uF. Exceeding this value may cause oscillations or instability.
Use a low-ESR output capacitor, minimize the PCB layout's inductive loops, and add a noise-reducing capacitor (e.g., 10nF) between the output and ground. Additionally, use a low-noise input voltage and ensure good power supply decoupling.
A 10uF to 22uF X5R or X7R ceramic capacitor is recommended for the input capacitor. This value provides a good balance between input ripple rejection and stability.
