MAU109 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • Minmax recommends a 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane, and thermal vias under the device to dissipate heat. A minimum of 1 oz copper thickness is recommended. Additionally, a thermal pad on the bottom of the device should be connected to a heat sink or a thermal management system.
  • Minmax recommends following the JEDEC J-STD-020D.1 standard for reflow soldering. The device should be soldered using a peak temperature of 260°C (500°F) for 10-30 seconds. Avoid using excessive solder paste, and ensure the PCB is clean and dry before soldering.
  • Minmax recommends using a low-ESR ceramic capacitor with a value of 10-22 μF, and a voltage rating of 25-50 V. The capacitor should be placed as close as possible to the VIN pin of the MAU109.
  • Minmax recommends using a oscilloscope to monitor the input and output voltages, as well as the switching frequency. Check for proper PCB layout, thermal management, and soldering. Consult the datasheet and application notes for troubleshooting guidelines.
  • The MAU109 can tolerate a maximum voltage deviation of ±10% on the input (VIN) pin. Exceeding this limit may affect the device's performance, efficiency, or reliability.
