  • A 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane and a separate power plane is recommended. Keep the input and output traces short and away from each other to minimize coupling. Use a common-mode choke and a shielded inductor to reduce EMI.
  • Use a heat sink to dissipate heat, ensure good airflow, and consider using a thermal interface material. Reduce the input voltage and output current to minimize power dissipation. Use a thermistor to monitor the temperature and adjust the operating conditions accordingly.
  • A 10uF to 22uF X7R or X5R ceramic capacitor is recommended for the input capacitor. The capacitor should be placed as close to the VIN pin as possible and connected to a low-impedance ground plane.
  • Use a minimum output capacitance of 10uF with an ESR of 1 ohm or less. Ensure the output capacitor is placed close to the output pin and connected to a low-impedance ground plane. Avoid using tantalum or electrolytic capacitors as they can cause oscillations.
  • The maximum allowed voltage drop across the input capacitor is 1V. Exceeding this voltage drop can cause the device to malfunction or fail.
