  • Microchip recommends following a star-grounding scheme, keeping analog and digital grounds separate, and using a solid ground plane to minimize noise. Additionally, keep the ADC input traces short and away from digital signals, and use a low-impedance source for the VREF pin.
  • Calibration involves adjusting the offset and gain of the ADC. Use the internal calibration feature by setting the CAL bit in the Control Register. The device will then perform a self-calibration sequence. For optimal accuracy, perform calibration at the operating temperature and voltage range of the application.
  • Power up the device in the following sequence: VDD, VREF, and then the analog input signal. Ensure that the VREF pin is powered up before the analog input signal to prevent latch-up or damage.
