A thermal pad is recommended under the IC to improve heat dissipation. A minimum of 2oz copper thickness and a thermal relief pattern are also recommended.
Ensure that the input voltage is within the recommended range, and that the output capacitor is of sufficient value (at least 10uF) and ESR (less than 1 ohm) to maintain stability.
The maximum allowable ripple voltage on the input is 10% of the nominal input voltage to ensure stable operation.
While ceramic capacitors can be used, they may not provide sufficient ESR to ensure stability. It is recommended to use an electrolytic or tantalum capacitor for the output capacitor.
Use an external current limiting resistor or a fuse in series with the input to protect the device from overcurrent conditions.
