NEO-M8U-0 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • The recommended power-up sequence is to first apply power to the module, then wait for at least 100 ms before sending any commands or data. This allows the module to complete its internal self-test and initialization.
  • To use an external antenna with the NEO-M8U, connect the antenna to the module's ANT pad, and set the ANT_EXTCFG bit in the CFG-ANTENA register (0x0F 0x1A) to 1. This enables the external antenna and disables the internal antenna.
  • The maximum update rate of the NEO-M8U is 10 Hz. To achieve this, set the CFG-RATE register (0x0F 0x14) to 0x0A, and ensure that the module is in continuous mode (CFG-INF-MASK register, 0x0F 0x02, bit 0 = 0).
  • To enable RTK, set the CFG-RTK register (0x0F 0x1C) to 1. Configure the RTK settings using the CFG-RTK-CONF register (0x0F 0x1D) and the CFG-RTK-FREQ register (0x0F 0x1E). Refer to the u-blox M8 receiver description document for detailed configuration options.
  • The NEO-M8U's default baud rate is 9600 bps. To change the baud rate, use the CFG-UART1 register (0x0F 0x10) or the CFG-UART2 register (0x0F 0x11), depending on the UART interface being used. Set the desired baud rate using the UART-BR register (0x0F 0x12).
