A thermal pad on the bottom of the package should be connected to a large copper area on the PCB to dissipate heat. A minimum of 2oz copper thickness is recommended. Additionally, vias should be placed under the package to connect the thermal pad to the copper area.
The device requires a stable input voltage (VIN) and a bypass capacitor (CBYP) to ensure proper biasing. A 10uF ceramic capacitor is recommended for CBYP, and VIN should be decoupled with a 1uF ceramic capacitor.
The maximum allowed voltage on the enable pin (EN) is 6V. Exceeding this voltage may damage the device.
The device has a built-in overcurrent protection (OCP) feature that limits the output current to 3.5A. However, it is still recommended to add external overcurrent protection, such as a fuse or a PTC thermistor, to prevent damage from excessive current.
A 10uF to 22uF ceramic capacitor is recommended for the input capacitor (CIN). X5R or X7R dielectric capacitors are suitable for this application.
