A good PCB layout for the PD-40 involves keeping the input and output traces separate, using a solid ground plane, and placing the input and output capacitors close to the device. A 4-layer PCB with a dedicated power plane and a solid ground plane is recommended.
To ensure proper decoupling, place a 10uF ceramic capacitor between the VIN pin and the GND pin, and a 1uF ceramic capacitor between the VOUT pin and the GND pin. Additionally, use a 10nF ceramic capacitor between the VIN pin and the EN pin.
The PD-40 can handle input voltages up to 28V, but it's recommended to operate within the specified input voltage range of 4.5V to 18V for optimal performance and reliability.
The PD-40 is rated for operation up to 85°C, but it's recommended to derate the output current at higher temperatures. For example, at 85°C, the maximum output current is 1.5A. Consult the datasheet for more information on temperature derating.
The output voltage of the PD-40 can be adjusted by using a resistor divider network between the FB pin and the GND pin. The output voltage is determined by the ratio of the resistors in the divider network.
