ROHM provides a recommended PCB layout in their application note (AN1911) for thermal optimization. It suggests using a thermal pad on the bottom of the package, connecting it to a large copper area on the PCB, and using thermal vias to dissipate heat efficiently.
To ensure reliability, follow the recommended operating temperature range (Ta = -40°C to 125°C) and derate the power dissipation according to the temperature. Also, consider using a heat sink or thermal management system to keep the junction temperature (Tj) below 150°C.
ROHM recommends a soldering profile with a peak temperature of 260°C, a dwell time above 240°C of 30 seconds, and a total process time of 60 seconds. Refer to the ROHM soldering guide (SG0701) for more details.
