RECOM recommends a PCB layout with a large copper area for heat dissipation, and a minimum of 2oz copper thickness. A thermal via array under the module can also improve heat dissipation.
Ensure that the input voltage is within the specified range, and that the input capacitance is sufficient to handle the inrush current. A soft-start circuit can also be used to reduce the inrush current.
The maximum allowed capacitance on the output is 220uF. Exceeding this value may cause instability or oscillation in the converter.
The RP30-2405SF is rated for operation up to 80°C ambient temperature. However, derating may be necessary for temperatures above 60°C. Consult the datasheet for derating curves.
Use a TVS diode or a transient voltage suppressor on the input to protect the converter from voltage transients. Ensure that the TVS diode is rated for the maximum expected transient voltage.
