A thermal pad is recommended under the IC to improve heat dissipation. A minimum of 2oz copper thickness and a thermal relief pattern are also recommended.
Ensure that the input voltage is within the recommended range, and that the output capacitor is of sufficient value and type (e.g. X5R or X7R ceramic). Also, ensure that the feedback resistors are of low tolerance and that the feedback network is properly compensated.
The maximum allowable ripple voltage on the input is 10% of the nominal input voltage. Exceeding this may affect the regulator's stability and output voltage regulation.
While the datasheet recommends a 10uF X5R or X7R ceramic capacitor, other types and values may be used. However, this may affect the regulator's stability and output voltage regulation. Ensure that the capacitor meets the minimum ESR and capacitance requirements.
Use an external current limiting resistor or a dedicated overcurrent protection IC to prevent damage from excessive current. Also, ensure that the PCB layout is designed to minimize the risk of short-circuits.
