SHT20 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • Sensirion recommends a reflow soldering profile with a peak temperature of 260°C, a dwell time above 220°C of 30-60 seconds, and a cooling rate of 4°C/s or slower.
  • To prevent contamination and damage, store the SHT20 in a dry, nitrogen-filled package or a sealed bag with desiccant. During PCB assembly, avoid exposing the sensor to moisture, and handle the component by the edges to prevent skin oils from affecting the sensor.
  • Use a 4-layer PCB with a dedicated power plane, and route the power supply lines (VCC and GND) as close as possible to the SHT20. Keep the signal lines (SCL and SDA) short and away from noise sources, and use a 100nF decoupling capacitor between VCC and GND.
  • The SHT20 is calibrated during manufacturing, but you can perform a one-point calibration for temperature and humidity using the built-in heater and a reference thermometer/hygrometer. Refer to the Sensirion application note for calibration procedures.
  • The SHT20's response time is typically 4-10 seconds for temperature and 10-30 seconds for humidity, depending on the measurement mode and environmental conditions.
